Trial dream team in STHLM...

Route Retard...
Time for a megapost!
Last week on Tuesday I decided to try some unpaved forest roads. Two years ago, in 2009 I got a pair of Continental Ultra Race tires as a "special" price for houling my Pugsley around the course. Not sure why since it sometimes felt like I was cheating with my massive tires on the gravel. =)
Anyhow, it was time to use the tires for what I suppose they were intended too. Gravel roads!
But first I had to get there, used the old railroad track, now converted to bike lane. Passing Lyviken.
On my way to Blötberget.
Left the bike lane and hit the road to Klenshyttan.
Passed some of the old mine buildings left in Blötberget.
I seldom ride this direction and saw to my surprise a old power station I never seen before, clearly visible from the road, perhaps the trees had been removed so it was visible now?
Almost in Klenshyttan, just on the other side of the tunnel.
Some nice views here. Lake Dammsjön.
From Klenshyttan it was basically gravel all the way to Snöån, here I have passed Kåsen.
In Snöån I back was on asphalt surface again, the gravel road was actually smoother when not trying to avoid the pot holes!
Decided to take the longer route and headed for Björsjö.
Now so warm as it had been previously but when in the sunshine it was nice and cosy.
In Björsjö it was time to turn towards Smedjebacken.
The dam.
Made a short stop at lake Mörktjärnen and took a closer look.
Just before this lake a passed another Dammsjön, the imagination to come up with names wasn't so good I suppose? :)

Kept going and after a long climb and a hillarious ride down I was in Smedjebacken.
Time to get some energy, had my second soft ice for the year at the same place as the first. Shell in Smedjebacken.
Not surprised the sun decided to hide behind the clouds the whole time I ate the ice cream...
Time to get to the next gravel stretch. Passed Gubbo where there was something going on in the Folketshus buildning.
Nice smooth roads here too, no loose surface, not much any way. :)
Starting to get late, think I had made 60km by now, but I didn't want to go home just yet.
Had to take a short brake in the steepest climb. Not sure what the building was used for.
Just keep climbing...
The forest groud here was covered with thimbleweed flowers!
Finally up on the hill! Schisshyttan.

Now it was getting colder, but from here it's almost down hill all the way home. :)
After passing Håksberg I used the bike lane since the road is so narrow and the banister makes it even worse. Trying to avoid a man walking a dog I managed to hit a small stone laying on the asphalt dead on and puncture my front wheel just a few kilometers from home. *doh!*
Changed the tube and made it to Ludvika!
(I'll add some videos as soon as they are uploaded to youtube...)
A bit over 70km in around 3h. Comfort speed, enjoying the sights. =)

Wild Wideos of the Week...
Or some lame excuse to post some videos I found worth posting. =)
First off a wild ride with a award winning film by Jean Louis Mourey, "Climb Dance".
Featuring rally legend Ari Vatanen climbing Pikes Peak in a modified Peugeot 405 T16.
Less action but still interesting to watch, I'm a sucker for "how things are made" video. Manufactoring Vittoria bicycle tubes.
The third video includes many of my favorite element, terrain, LEGO and destruction! ;)
Can't resist posting another LEGO video, not only a excellent build but the presentations is top notch!
Lastly but not leastly: Leopold the Amazing Leaping Cat!

Alaska FAT Bikes video.

Hands on hand adjusting.
Noticed that my Seiko Orange/Black Monster started to lag behind with the hour hand, quite annoying since it got hard to properly read the time some times.
Not really sure when this happened but I suspect it was the watch repairman that replaced the black hands with white ones and after which the minute hand got loose and I had to return the watch to get it fixed (for free but anyway...)
So one evening when I had let the watch stay still for a few days til it stopped moving I opened it to try adjust the hour hand.
I had found a service manual on the net for the movement that is in the Seiko Monster, 7S26B: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f365/seiko-calibers-technical-repair-manuals-299038.html

I have no clue if this is the correct way to do it but it worked for me! =)
Took the opportunity to blow away some dust that the watch repairer had left in my watch, I later saw a video how to replace the crystal and there he covered the movement with a small glass that prevented dust from getting in.
The video did not turn out as I wanted, I used the new Windows Live Movie Maker that comes with Windows 7 and it was pure crap! 4GB memory was apparently not enough to be able to save a 5 minute long video in HD-quality and of course I find that out after I did all the edits. Do I need to get a Mac to be able edit movies without major effort?!

2:nd try...
Another Saturday, another day for a ride! Now that I had daylight I decided to go and try find the wind shelter I tried to find earlier in the dark and failed.
I was a bit behind schedule so I skipped most of the trails there and went the fast way over town and the road out to Räfsnäs.
Passed ABB:s latest building, ABB has plans to build another huge building right here at the parking lot, might not be able to pass here next year this time?
Scared a poor pedestrian!
The power plant seemed to fire on all cylinders! Thankfully it was only -5C today, been lucky with "warmer" weather on weekends.
The ice is definitely covering the whole lake Väsman now.
Passing some suburban areas on my way out.
Finally out of town.
Still some red houses with white corners in sight.
The Kennel club keeps the trails open around here, perfect!
Met one man walking his dog, he looked surprised I was out biking and I got the usual "that's some fat tires". =)
Lot of snow in the trees but not so much on the ground. I like.
Managed to get a blurry shot of the Sasquatch!
Found a trail that I suspected I had skipped last time since it went upwards quite a while, if it turned out to be the wrong way I would at least have a great ride down again! There were foot prints from one walker up the trail...
Rocky! And way in there is the wind shelter! Found it, knew it was around here some where and just not in my mind. :)
Time to make camp!
Nothing like the crackling from an open fire!
A amazing 8 minute video coming up on making the fire! ;)
My gloves got wet so I put them on a stick near the fire to dry, a lot of steam!
Had some hot coffee and a snickers bar, when the fire settled down some hot dogs!
Time to get back home again, had to be at Smedjebacken before 4pm. The snow on the roof melted from the heat and the water dripped down in the fire. View when I left. I took a shorter route back home...

What a blast!
Well, not really, but it was windy and the snow was falling. Not really a blizzard, that seems to have hit the southern parts of Sweden...
Took a short ride, brought both my HTC Desire and the 'new' iPhone 3GS, had to try Endomondo on both and compare the GSP-tracking. Also snapped a few shots when I was at the highest point.

After these initial tests I'm glad I bought a Desire, wish I could take the best of the two phones and combine them! :)
Thought I deserved something nice after the ride but with only a few days left before the salary I could only find some dry biscuits and moldy cheese, even the beer had some yeast left in it and to add to the injury some of it spilled out as the foam piratically exploded out of the bottle, poor me! ;)
