Nikon News...

So it's finally here, the Nikon D7000, seems to have all the goodies I miss on my D90:

Dual memory card slots, Intervalometer, 100% coverage view finder, Magnesium body, AF-fine tune, Metering, Proper mirror lock-up, 1/8000sec shutter speed, 14-bit NEF, Up to 9 "non-CPU" lenses can be registered for light metering, Virtual horizon, and so on! :)
Have to ditch the battery grip, new model for D7000 same goes for the batteries, no biggie.

Let me in.

Haven't even seen the Swedish movie or even read the book yet and here is the trailer of the U.S. version (of Låt den rätte komma in(Let the right one in)):

Apparently it's the same director who directed Cloverfield. I like the track in the trailer, by a group named Placebo. (Had to check them out on Spotify...)

How to report.

British dry humour takes on news reporting.

Maybe I'll wait for the next version?

Will be interesting too see what price tag there will be on the iPad in Sweden, the photo app seems really sweet and is almost a reason by it self to get one, not to mention how well Bejeweled 2(3?) might run on it! That poor glass will be grinded useless in a few months! :)

Fast forward to the end, that speed impresses me most.

This will for sure be the most misunderstood device since MacBook Air...

Splice

Apparently the the director of Cube (Vincenzo Natali) has released a new move, Splice!

Couple of trailers:

Seems to be quite decent one! Looking forward for it, good Sci-fi flicks are rare . =)

Record sales of beer in Sweden

The demand for beer has not been larger and that record sale was in november!

People are apperantly not only drinking "just a beer" but asking for recommendations and suggestions for what to choose for specific foods.

The brewerys are optimistic to break the record sales for the whole year in 2010.

Swedish press release: November gav nya öl- och läskrekord

2:nd trailer...

A slightly more understandable trailer for Avatar is released, the CGI-scenes still look a bit artificial but perhaps that is intentional...

Let's hope there is a good story behind all that eyecandy! =)

Gizmooops? (Updated)

Updated!
There was a entry in Gizmodo just moments ago that said that Google's Chrome OS now was available! Tried to click the link but it just took me back to the front page, did however a screen shot of the browser window.

Now the link is nowhere to be found. Perhaps it was a premature breaking news? Hmm....

Update: More about the fake news here - http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/174593/beware_the_fake_google_chrome_os_download.html

Thomas Husing, "the beer general" is proud to be able to provide the beer festival with this special treat! It will be a world premiere! :)

Next time the T&T will be available is at the Beer festival in Netherlands best brewery, Brouwerij De Molen.

Kamikaze attack!

Hardly had made it to my office at work this morning when I heard a loud bang on one of the windows in the room! All you who have heard a snowball hit a window know what kind of sound I'm talking about!

Examined the window and noticed a big wet spot on the glass.
Looked down to see if I could locate what ever had hit the window and saw a small gray bird laying on the ground.
Went down and out to see if it still was alive and apparently the kamikaze-bird had failed since it was still breathing! ;)
Got even closer with the mobile phone camera. I think it's a Fieldfare.
I got one shade pulled up half way on one of the windows and that's where the bird aimed.
The middle upper window that is...

A amazing video of the bird that was so hurt it's blurry.

15 minutes later it was on it's legs and a few moments later it was gone, probably a cat that took care of it. ;)

Happy joy, joy!

Noticed a few days ago that Inwarehouse had two Nikon Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8 G lenses in stock, managed to snag one of them and today I got it in the mail!

It came in a insanely big box!
In the bottom was the actual lens box.
Getting close!
It's out of the box!
Some close-up action with the phone camera.
Focus over-ride switch.
Diaphragms.
Lens hood reversed.
All the crap in the box! =)
Unpacking video:

Can't wait to get home and put it to the test! =)

Orange lust!

Panasonics heavy duty camera Lumix DMC-TS1 is one of the coolest looking cameras in a long time. Brushed aluminum covers screwed on with four big screws and all this in glorious orange color! Me like a lot! :)
Quick specs: Shoots stills at 12.1 megapixels, video at 1080p. Decent wide and ok tele reach with a 28mm-128mm zoom, aperture opens to a 3.3-5.9 maximum size, ISO up to 6400 and maximum shutter speed of 1/1300. A 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot LCD adorns the back of the slim(ish) 3.87 x 2.49 x 0.91 body, and the standard facial recognition, image stabilization and creative mode features are all present. Price? $399.95 ouch, hardly dare to calculate what that makes in Swedish pesetas..

Now I have to read through all the specs on the Lumix web page!

I was right!

I knew it! Posted some 'doodles' earlier that I had made during work meetings to keep me awake, seems like it's now proved that doodling makes you more alert during meetings and such.

"Doodling may look messy, but it could in fact be a sign of an alert mind, a study suggests.

Plymouth University researchers carried out memory tests on 40 volunteers, asking them to listen to a phone call and recall names and places.

Doodlers performed 29% better than non-doodlers, the team found.

Experts said doodling stopped people from daydreaming, which was a more taxing diversion, and so was good at helping people focus on mundane tasks."

Next order..

Found a review on a new sci-fi book on BoingBoing. Definitely my next book purchase!

Bruce Sterling's The Caryatids sounds very interesting, it's a 'post apocalyptic' story taking place after a global warming catastrophic. Apparently it's not a pessimistic book but more about how technology might help combat the climate changes.

The reviewer sounds ecstatic about the book. :)
Have to looks up more works from this Bruce Sterling...

Eyeballing...

Never thought I would be interested in a Samsung camera but the new TL320 (WB100) sure looks promising.

Some good stuff:
- 24-120mm lens (5x zoom)
- Full manual mode!
- RAW output!
- 30fps HD-video
- Dual IS
- hVGA AMOLED-display!
- Good looking
- 60fps movie mode (Only 320x200 though)

Less good stuff:
- No optical viewfinder (The OLED-screen saves this a bit)
- Weatherproofing
- No clue about speed or IQ yet.
- Price? ( £299 in UK)

Detailed specifications on DP review: http://www.dpreview.com/
Looks quite compact too.
Like those analogue gauges!
Massive screen on the back.

Let's hope there will be some review out soon...
