Swapped the batteries in my ancient iPod, replacement battery ordered from DealExtreme for hardly any money at all. Totally worth it! :)

Nikon News...
So it's finally here, the Nikon D7000, seems to have all the goodies I miss on my D90:
Dual memory card slots, Intervalometer, 100% coverage view finder, Magnesium body, AF-fine tune, Metering, Proper mirror lock-up, 1/8000sec shutter speed, 14-bit NEF, Up to 9 "non-CPU" lenses can be registered for light metering, Virtual horizon, and so on! :)
Have to ditch the battery grip, new model for D7000 same goes for the batteries, no biggie.

Caviar in the mail...
Just received a SMS informing me that my 2TB WESTERN DIGITAL CAVIAR GREEN (SATA/300 64MB CACHE) has arrived in the mail!
My 1TB drives are getting too small to fit all my photos, time to start with two terrabyte discs, some day I will get a NAS...

It just hit me...
Yesterday it just hit me that the rear side of the Leatherman Bit Kit (plastic bit holder) would be a perfect place to put a diamond coated or ceramic grindstone.
It's just a flat surface that is suitable for a sharpeners in the same style like these:
Popped a email to Leathermans marketing department pointing this out, now it's just a matter of waiting to see it they will regard me crazy or if they will implement it. :)

Brenzier attempt.
Testing something that apparently called "The Brenzier method". It's to shoot a lot of shots with a large aperture lens (preferably a tele lens) and then stitch the images to create a complete photo.
To mimic the look of medium format or large format photography, the method is widely known by the work of Ryan Brenizer.
I made a try with my Nikon D90 and the 180mm Tamron macro set to f3.5:
I used 47 photos to cover the whole car, stitched to one image in Photoshop. A lot of strange perspective errors in the photos but it's just for test. Wish I'd had camera dolly too keep everything in plane. =)

Spring cleaning in one sweep!
A few days ago I decided to clean my camera sensor, I have a Nikon D90 and it has a automatic cleaning system. But as usual I'm skeptical about automagic functions and as I suspected there is a dust build up on the sensor anyway. Sure it's better than nothing but by using a fairly cheap air blower it's possible to remove almost any dust specs or hairs, and it only takes seconds.
A few month after I bought the D90 I got a stubborn speck on the sensor, it's not really visible using normal f-numbers but when using f-numbers above 16 it starts to show. Read somewhere that pollen is among the worst things you can get inside the camera and it can really stick to the low-pass filter that covers the sensor. I suppose that was what I managed to get.
Well, back to the cleaning, while using the blower I tried to get some extra oomph out of it and in the process I managed to strike the tip of the plastic pipe against the filter and thus making a clearly visible, fat smear on it!!! This was way worse than a small speck of dust or pollen. :(
Took a few shots but could really not see any effects on the photos but just knowing that there was a smudge on the low pass filter made me restless and being neurotic about my camera gear I could not let it be.
Started to look for info about how to clean it and it ended up with me ordering Visible dust Vswab Ultra MXD-100 (Fabric) Sensor Cleaning Swab from Scandinavian photo including Visible Dust Sensor Clean. The swabs costed a whopping 316:- Sek for twelve swabs but the 8ml bottle of sensor clean liquid took the grand price with 180:- Sek! If I calculated correctly it ended up with a litre price of 22500:- Sek! Must be up and in pair with the price for ink, for ink jet printers.
Got the stuff in the mail today and this evening I decided I'd give it a try, first I watched the instuction video on youtube from http://www.visibledust.com:
Wish I had a Nikon D3 but I had to settle to clean the sensor on my D90. Slightly nervous I opened the wrapping of one swab, dropped three (perhaps four) precious drops of sensor cleaning liquid on it, closed the bottle and went to business. Did as on the instruction video and it was done!
This is how it looked before the swabbing, 15sec exposure, f/32, ISO 100.
After (same camera settings):
This is a shot before the swab but with f10, as one can see the massive amount of dust and specs is barely visible.
First (not test) shot with clean sensor. =)
The dust is on the bike not the sensor. ;)
The result speaks for it self, all the specs and smears I could see with my bare eyes is gone and so is the weight on my mind! Despite the price it was well worth it, now I still got 11 swabs I can use the next time the blower is inadequate to get rid of the dirt.

Alien avatar...
James Cameron is back in his former, good shape! Just back from the movie theatre where I saw Avatar, visually simply stunning! Even if it was playing way over two hours the time flew past.
I tried to keep my expectations low on this movie but some where back in my mind I suppose I expected to see a great sci-fi movie and despite that, my expectations were full filled, sure there were moments that might been unnecessary long or rewarding it was well worth the money!
And even if the message of the movie is a bit obvious the story is quite good.
Actually most impressed by how well the movements was on all the CGI, the "humans" and the animals were amazing. That's usually what's hardest to get right and what in most cases makes or brakes if you believe what you see, so to say. Looking forward to see it again and that's the best grade I can give it. ;)

Finally!
This is a what I have been waiting for, many years ago I wondered why nobody had made a scale with wireless connection before, or a scale that connects to a logging device.
Well, there has been scales that do log the weight but they were not really aimed at the consumer market, more towards medical sector and they are expensive! Apparently this one costs about 1500:- Sek, shipping excluded...

Testing, testing...
Just took a short ride to test the GPS-unit, seems to work well even if I place it in the side pocket on my bike shorts!
Some parts of the "track" is in pretty dense forest and the tracking worked anyway, thinking about buying another one just for having for reserve. :)

Cosmic Motors
As a Sci-fi nerd, motor buff and design freak I found the Cosmic Motors web page highly fascinating!
It's a made up company that competes in various motor sports in the future with cool machines.
Complete with a company history.
They have compiled a book with illustration with all the vehicles and such.
Even a video, I could watch a whole movie! :)
