What's your footprint?

"Revealed: the environmental impact of Google searches

Physicist Alex Wissner-Gross says that performing two Google searches uses up as much energy as boiling the kettle for a cup of tea
"

Ok, now we know what's the CO2 footprint of a google search, more on Google's blog

Makes me wonder how much energy this study 'costed' and if it ever will justify it's 'existence' by reducing the amount of C02 use by being published?

Oooops... Think I just wasted a few grams of CO2 by posting this!

  1. We'll, it kinda seems a waste of energy that Google let's their different datacentres compete who's the fastest to render your search result.

But I'd guess Google has a great inticament to reduce their energy uses since they need to pay for cooling the datacentres...
