New stuff for old gear...
Installed latest Ubuntu v. 9.10 on my HP ZD7000 draggable "Lap Top". Not sure if it was the switch to ext4 filesystem or other software bundled in the distro but Ubuntu started to warn about the state of the hard drive, it was loosing a lot of clusters.
Decided to look around for some replacement drive, found a 160GB, 2.5", Samsung Spinpoint for roughly 500Sek, hopefully it will work without problems. If the computer had been a few years newer I would gone for a 7200rpm drive but I think this 5400rpm drive with 8MB cache will be a speed booster anyway compared to the old 80GB drive...
Just hit me that the ZD7000 probably is the most expensive computer I have owned, did no upgrades during the two years it took to pay it off but shortly after that I started to get mysterious shutdown and they came more and more frequently until I managed to isolate the problem to the SODIMM memory modules. Bought a single 1GB SODIMM and after that I got rid of the problems, until now with the flaky HD. Must remind my self not to pour money into obsolete computer gear anymore! ;)

New drive, old drive, the old Hitachi (bless you!) drive was a mere 4200rpm drive!
Seems to work fine!

Gizmooops? (Updated)
Updated!
There was a entry in Gizmodo just moments ago that said that Google's Chrome OS now was available! Tried to click the link but it just took me back to the front page, did however a screen shot of the browser window.
Now the link is nowhere to be found. Perhaps it was a premature breaking news? Hmm....

Autumn Ride III
Slightly nicer weather today, the sun was actually shining after a period with dull days. Made a short ride, dressed way too warm, the sun did it's job.

Tour de FluffBay
Did a short ride around Ludvika, it was getting dark and to be frank I was getting tired too, so I have to do a complete round around the town some other time.

Enthusiastic speaker about cheap radio controlled flying objects! :)
Like the quote in the end:

At SMÖF there will be a premiere for a new lager beer called T&T, named after the God Thors two billy goats Tanngnjost and Tanngrisnir. Brewed by the now famous Närke Kulturbryggeri.
Thomas Husing, "the beer general" is proud to be able to provide the beer festival with this special treat! It will be a world premiere! :)
Next time the T&T will be available is at the Beer festival in Netherlands best brewery, Brouwerij De Molen.

Selection of images from today:
Drove 120km with a full tank of gas, re-fueled the car and managed to squeeze in ~6litres of petrol, the display for fuel consumption showed 5,2l/km! :)

Finally!
This is a what I have been waiting for, many years ago I wondered why nobody had made a scale with wireless connection before, or a scale that connects to a logging device.
Well, there has been scales that do log the weight but they were not really aimed at the consumer market, more towards medical sector and they are expensive! Apparently this one costs about 1500:- Sek, shipping excluded...

Awful Autumn
Few shots I thought were worth some effort from Saturday, when I was to the cabin to fetch some firewood.
The Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8 just makes me shoot everything I see! :)
